Fireplace Hearths

Interested in fireplace hearths?  Fireplace hearths are essential if you want to improve the aesthetics of your house.  Fireplace hearths are essentially the wooden frame that surrounds a fireplace making it appear more inviting and more of a focal point of the room.

A good fireplace hearth will not only make the fireplace look more distinguished, but it will also provide space for you to put various trinkets on display on top of the fireplace.  A good hearth will also consist of some marble flooring around the fireplace.  This will work to elevate the fireplace up off the ground a bit and make it more of the center of the room by adding prominence.

Now the best case scenario is to get a hold of a house that already has the hearth built into it.  Without the hearth built in, you’re going to have to hire someone to build you one which can be a costly endeavor that will easily go into the several thousands of dollars range.

Now if you’re looking to setup a hearth, with careful planning you can make it the center of the home, you can have it looking attractive and also have it be safe.  You may also opt to get yourself a hearth rug which comes in many different sizes and shapes, a textured rug will do well and can help to make it more comfortable sitting in front of the fireplace.

Now as far as wood stove hearths are concerned, they can either be inset into the ground or raised up on a platform.  Regardless of which it is, you’re going to want to get a gate too to keep away children and animals from the fireplace, it also serves to stop sparks from flying out from it.

That’s not all it does though, especially if you live in a humid area, sometimes you can have bugs come down from the chimney and into your house.  If you have to deal with this annoyance, the fireplace grate will stop them from getting out and flying about your house.  I remember one summer when I used to have these giant beetles dropping down from outside into my house via the chimney, it was disgusting and without the mesh to stop them from getting out, they would have infested the house!

Finally, one thing that completes all fireplace hearths is a brush and poker setup beside the fireplace.  It may take a lot of effort to set all this up, but it sure beats a plain old fireplace.
